Akademi Mag

Akademi Mag was an online publication based out of India, and. It was devoted to opinion writing around politics, philosophy and the complexities of  Indian society. We covered stories by writers who were often overlooked, and marginalized by mainstream media in India. We created a small corner of the internet where dissent was not curbed.

The magazine began somewhere in late 2019, in protest of the Citizen Amendment Act — an overbearing and unconstitutional law proposed by the Indian government. Over the course of two years, we reached around 30,000 readers at our peak, and we also ran a newsletter that had an audience of close to 20,000 readers. Unfortunately, we decided to shutter the magazine after 2 years, because dissenting voices aren’t welcome after all.

A big thank to you all our readers, supporters, writers, contributors and artists who worked with Akademi.

I co-founded this magazine alongwith Charu Pragya, our editor-in-chief, and I overlooked all the creative direction. I made over a 100 editorial illustrations for this magazine, overlooked the design of our promotional materials, design of our website and newsletters.

Here is a selection of some of my favourite work.
